Keywords are very important in article optimization. Easy as it seems, a little help doesn’t hurt when you’re not sure on how to search for those keywords.
Research
A little bit of research can go a long way in developing content and researching for relevant keywords is the best strategy in developing your articles. You don’t have to be an SEO expert to find the right ingredients for your articles. All you have to do is to use WordTracker or Google’s Adword Tool for finding the right keywords.
LSI
Also known as Latent Semantic Indexing, it is simply finding and using keywords related to your target keyword. You might be planning to use “shoes” as your target keyword but adding other keywords such as “sneakers” could also help improve keyword usage. Use keywords that you think people would be using to search for related content. Google’s Adword Tool is an easy way of identifying the most common used search terms. Choose keywords that you think your web visitors will use when searching for content. Search for related keywords that are specific to your niche.
Long-tail keywords
Long tail-keywords maybe harder to develop and don’t produce as much juice as the popular keywords but you could consider them as little drops in the bucket which contributes to the overall efforts. Combine simple and long-tail keywords to produce maximum effect.
Keyword Placement
Try to incorporate keywords into your content naturally. Keywords should be used based on the content and not the other way around. Place the keyword in the title, the first and last paragraphs. You could also place keywords at the rate of 1 keyword per 100 words or depending on the amount of content. Too much of a good thing is bad and stay away from keyword stuffing.
Keep your Keywords updated
We all know how competitive getting our articles ranked on search engines. Getting to the top is harder but keeping that top position could prove to be more difficult. If you’re trying to write a series of articles on a particular niche make it a point to constantly check the latest keywords being used. The internet is a highly dynamic environment and what is true today does not necessarily hold true in the future.
Think long term
Once you’ve locked in your article there’s a good chance that the content will be published for years. Use keywords that are highly valuable to give them the best chance of being picked up by search engines. Keywords and content with lasting value will help keep you on top of the heap long after you’ve typed your final word.
